Beating Winter in Copenhagen, Denmark
In spite of Copenhagen's freezing winters, the city is still a top tourist drawer. At one time, the weather report registered -10°C. This is a fluke but normally, locals deal with the cold as their forefathers had done and still have loads of fun during the winter months from November to February. Nobody hibernates in the cold of winter.
Survive the Cold in Style
Although you have been warned that you might not be able to cope with the freezing weather, the thought of Copenhagen in winter still plays on your mind. Copenhagen winter scenes are hauntingly beautiful despite the grey landscapes and bone-chilling cold. Like the locals, enjoy the outdoors in your knits, jackets, denims, t-shirts, sweatshirts, knee high biker boots and long overcoats.
According to Carina Christensen, former Minister of Culture - "Fashion is more than trade. Fashion is culture and at its best, fashion is also art." The gray winter landscape is warmed by winter colors and the art of its winter fashion. Watching the colorful bikers speed along the snow-shoveled lanes is just as entertaining as skimming down the slopes.
The winter chic is to wear Russian-inspired fur hats, fur cuffed gloves, and really cool funky mittens. You guessed it right, the bike seat are dressed up with fur, too. Surviving the cold can be done in style, so who says it's a bore biking in Copenhagen during winter? But if biking is not for you, you can get around cheaply with a Copenhagen Card. The Card entitles you free transport by Metro, bus, and train, free entry to museums and attractions including discounts on sightseeing tours, car rentals, and restaurants.
Ski Gear
So you want to ski in warmth and style? Think about your feet first. You need boots that are pre-wired with a heating system. The padded boots are battery-charged to give you nine hours of toasty toes while you ski or trudge the slopes. It won't smell too because it is protected with an anti-microbial lining. Your ski socks should be made from merino wool and must have insulating properties.
Don't forget a jacket that would blend with the location, especially with the locals. A lumber jacket created from recycled polyester, ripstop nylon and polar fleece can keep a body warm up in the slopes and it is comfortable, too.
To record every turn, jump, and wipe out in wide angle in high definition video, look for high tech helmets. You can replay your ski holiday back home or check your ski performance. The helmet is also water, snow and crash proof and weighs only 116 grams - definitely a must have for your ski gear.
